Understanding & Preventing Bridge Strikes – Half Day Course

What you’ll be able to do after the course

• Work out the true running height of your vehicle, loaded and unloaded, and record it correctly in the cab
• Plan a route that avoids low structures, using truck-specific mapping rather than a standard satnav
• Read and act on height restriction signs, including metric and imperial markings and advance warnings
• Take the right steps immediately after a strike, including who to call and what to record
• Explain what the Traffic Commissioner expects of drivers and operators after a strike
• Put simple controls in place at depot level: height checks, driver briefings and near-miss reporting
