From the 4 November 2024, DVSA are introducing revised application forms to record the details of an HGV (VTG 788) and apply for trailer consent (TES1).
All applications will need to be submitted using the new updated forms, publication version “November 2024”. From 6 January 2025, versions of the old forms will no longer be accepted because they do not have all the information required to process your application quickly.

The changes
Some of the changes DVSA have made to the application forms include:
- VTG 788 – additional questions relating to creating a technical record for a vehicle exempt from Plating.
- TES 1 – amendment regarding the legislation applicable for longer semi-trailers.
By using the latest versions of the forms, it will help improve the speed of processing whilst reducing the amount of call contact with customers.
