From 1 July 2025, the DVSA will implement updates to the inspection manuals for both heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and public service vehicles (PSVs). While many of the amendments are formatting or technical clarifications, there are a few important points operators should be aware of.
Key Changes for HGVs:
- Clarification on the application of load index to GB plated weights.
- Updated requirements for vehicles fitted with type-approved sideguards.
- Additional guidance around corrosion assessment.
Key Changes for PSVs:
- General formatting improvements for clarity.
- Enhanced guidance on corrosion assessment.
These changes reflect the DVSA’s ongoing effort to improve clarity and consistency across its manuals. Although the updates are largely clarifications, it’s essential that operators, transport managers, and maintenance providers familiarise themselves with the revised content to ensure ongoing compliance.
