If you drive an HGV, LGV or PSV as part of your job, you are required to complete 35 hours of Driver CPC periodic training every five years. This training is a legal requirement under UK and EU regulations, but it also plays an important role in keeping roads safer and helping you stay skilled, confident and up to date in your professional driving role.
Driver CPC training helps you refresh your knowledge of road safety, vehicle operation, and compliance. It reinforces habits that reduce accidents, improve fuel economy, and protect your operator’s licence. Many drivers also see it as a chance to build their career by improving their understanding of legislation, customer service, and professional driving standards.
At Lloyd Morgan Group, we believe periodic CPC training should do more than tick a compliance box. Our courses are designed to make a real difference to how you work. Every session combines up-to-date guidance, interactive discussion, and practical examples drawn from real transport operations. You’ll leave each module with a clearer sense of how to drive safely, efficiently, and within the law.
We offer flexible training options across the UK to suit individual drivers and company teams.
Classroom Training: Delivered at our approved training centres nationwide. Ideal for drivers who prefer interactive, face-to-face learning.
On-Site Training: We can deliver training at your premises, reducing downtime and allowing your drivers to learn in a familiar environment.
Online CPC Courses: Our live virtual sessions allow you to complete training remotely while still engaging directly with instructors.
All formats are JAUPT approved and count fully towards your periodic CPC Training hours.
Upon completion of each training module, participants receive a certificate confirming the hours achieved. These are recorded against your Driver CPC status with the licensing authority, enabling you to demonstrate compliance at audit checks and licence renewals.
The 35 hours can be accumulated over the five-year period, and drivers may choose to spread sessions to suit operational needs.
As a recognised JAUPT-approved training provider with a nationwide delivery network, Lloyd Morgan Group combines industry expertise with practical instruction that goes beyond minimum compliance. Our CPC Training programmes are grounded in real transport operations, with experienced facilitators and flexible scheduling to accommodate both individual drivers and company teams
We provide:
This five-year period starts from when you passed your initial Driver CPC test. You can check your renewal date on your Driver Qualification Card (DQC) or by contacting DVSA. If you let it lapse, you cannot legally drive professionally until you complete the outstanding training.
Yes, you can complete the training in 7-hour modules, which is the most common approach. This means five separate training days spread across your five-year period. You can also do multiple modules in consecutive days if you prefer to complete it sooner. There's no requirement to do it all at once, so you can fit training around your work schedule.
You receive a certificate of completion for each module. These hours are recorded on the JAUPT database and automatically update your Driver CPC status. You don't need to apply for a new card — DVLA will send your updated Driver Qualification Card automatically before your current one expires, as long as you've completed all 35 hours. Keep your certificates as proof in case of any roadside checks before your new card arrives.
Yes, our training is structured to meet requirements for both HGV and PSV drivers. However, make sure you book courses relevant to your vehicle type. While the core principles overlap, some modules focus specifically on goods vehicle operations or passenger transport, so discuss your needs with us when booking.
