Driver CPC Periodic Training
ALL LGV, HGV and PSV drivers must undertake 35 hours of approved Driver CPC Periodic Training, every 5 years to keep their Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) to drive a lorry, bus or coach. The Driver CPC has been implemented by the DVSA to improve the knowledge of drivers which in turn will improve road safety and the professionalism of the road transport and passenger transport industries.
Stay compliant
To keep your Driver CPC, you need to do 35 hours of training before your 5-year deadline. The deadline to do your training is shown on your card. It’s up to you when you take the training courses, as long as you do them within the 5-year period. It’s illegal to drive professionally if you have not done your training by your deadline and drivers can be fined up to £1,000.

Assessment
The 35 hours of training can be split into 1-day sessions lasting 7 hours each. A total of 5 days over 5 years.
