Updated Guidance

In December the DVSA told us that tyres aged over 10 years will be banned on the front axles of lorries, buses, coaches and all single wheels of minibuses (9 to 16 passenger seats).

The DVSA have updated their guidance to help vehicle operators and those who work with them. Updates have been publish in the following manuals:

This law came into place on the 1st of February 2021 and you can find information on how the procedures and standards on the condition of tyres will change in Section 8 of the manuals.

An updated version of the Categorisation of Vehicle Defects manual has also been released today as well as the inspection manuals. Issues affecting the view of the road have also been added to the notes.

Other updated sections include:

  • brakes

  • steering control
  • suspension
