Wednesbury operator told to build compliance systems from the ground up
A scaffolding firm has been suspended from operating all of its vehicles this month after failing to take action to address compliance issues.
Traffic Commissioner Nick Denton told the Wednesbury company it should use the four week suspension to appoint a new maintenance contractor, build compliance systems from the ground up and arrange for its director to attend an operator licence management course.
Mr Denton also warned the business that if it operates any vehicles during the suspension the licence will be revoked.
The operator was called to a public inquiry after a DVSA investigation revealed shortcomings, including failing to collect or analyse tachograph data, ineffective daily defect reporting, stretched inspection frequencies and operating vehicles in a “very poor condition”.
Mr Denton told the company that it had one final chance to run a compliant operation.
