The IRTEC Inspection Technician accreditation confirms your ability to inspect light commercial vehicles to the required industry standards. It’s designed for technicians working on vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes who want to demonstrate practical skill, technical knowledge, and professional credibility.

This accreditation helps workshops meet compliance requirements and maintain safety, ensuring every inspection meets DVSA and operator expectations.

What the Assessment Involves

The assessment checks both your practical inspection skills and understanding of key vehicle systems. You’ll need to demonstrate safe working practices, attention to detail, and accurate defect reporting.

You’ll complete:
  • A practical assessment covering the inspection of a light commercial vehicle
  • A practical assessment covering the inspection of a light commercial vehicle
  • A skills-based observation conducted by an approved IRTEC assessor
Assessments are carried out at an accredited Lloyd Morgan Group centre or on your own premises if suitable facilities are available.
